You do not need a teacher in the room to get a change clean. You need one loop, a slow click, and a rule that you do not speed up until the change is early.
Early means the new shape is ready before the beat. The common miss is to start the change on the beat and land late. Then the melody has already moved.
Pick a tiny page. Are You Sleeping and Amazing Grace both keep a small set. Play one change until it is boring. Boredom is the sign you can add tempo.
Isolate G to C, or C to D, and ignore the rest of the song. Strum or tap once per chord. Freeze if the fingers collide. Reset and go again.
When that pair is clean, put it back in the page. Three-chord Song is I–IV–V, which is the same three-letter job in every major key.
The Four Chords adds the minor. Learn the major pair first. Add vi when I, IV, and V no longer surprise you.
Hope rushes. A click does not. Open metronome with chords and start below the marked tempo. The click uses the same sound engine as the rest of the instrument.
Play four clicks on each chord before you change. Then two. Then one. If a bar falls apart, go back to four. This is slower than a lesson video, and it sticks.
Keep the phone or laptop in front of you so you can see the pad. Looking down at a neck and losing the beat is a different drill. Separate those jobs at first.
Stay in C major or G major for the first week. Moving key and moving fingering at once hides which one failed.

Ten minutes a day beats a long Saturday. End on a pass that worked. Tomorrow you will open the same loop, not a new mountain.
